Cooinda was established in 1969 by a small group of community members and volunteers as a secure place where older people could live. Today Cooinda provides a home and award-winning excellence in person centred care for up to 82 older people in a state-of-the-art facility.
Cooinda also provides community care services including domestic assistance, personal care, home care packages and short-term restorative care along with 67 on-site, independent retirement living villas offering traditional and modern living.
About the role
To succeed in this role, you will be an experienced Registered Nurse who will provide clinical supervision and expertise to ensure that direct resident care services are delivered to the highest standard and in accordance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
You will also assist with the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives, staff management and effectively contribute to a multi-disciplinary team.
The successful applicant should have:
• Registered Nurse qualification and current registration with AHPRA
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
• Provide Leadership and supervision to Personal Care Workers and Enrolled Nurses and promote and implement a holistic team approach to the delivery of resident care
• To support staff in implementation of care to the residents
• Gerontology certificate or evidence of continuing studies in Aged Care
• Sound knowledge of the Australian National Aged Care Classification funding model (AN-ACC)
• Sound knowledge of Wound & Pressure Area Management and Falls Prevention Strategies
• Evidence of success in planning, delivering, and evaluating care of the aged person affected by medical and aged related conditions
• Knowledge of relevant Aged Care programs and the Aged Care Quality Standards
• Substantial post-basic experience in nursing
• Ability to work independently
• Understanding and education in regard to the care of people living with dementia
• Understanding, education, and knowledge in regard to pain management for older people
• Understanding, education, and knowledge in regard to caring for the dying and palliative care
• Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines, manage time effectively and complete activities
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Good computer and literacy skills

Those eligible for salary packaging can increase their hourly rate in excess of $2.
– Up to $611.53 per fortnight to pay your mortgage, rent, school fees, etc.
– Up to $101.92 per fortnight to pay entertainment activities like cafes, restaurants, etc.
