About the Role …

The FSA/Cook is a valued team member who reports to the Chef of the Home and is responsible for preparation of meals for the residents, organising food orders, ensuring menus and specialised diets including supplements and texture modified foods are of a high standard. The Cook supervises a team of Food Services Assistants who support all kitchen activities. The FSA/Cook liaises with the internal staff, external suppliers as necessary and families as well as provides a high-quality dining experience for our residents.

The FSA/Cook is responsible for supporting and providing a high standard of food safety in preparation and serving of meals and hospitality services in a residential aged care setting, including following directions from the Chef and performs regular audits of the kitchen ensuring safety with kitchen cleaning, storage of foods.

Food Safety Certificate
Computer and documentation skills
Understanding of Hygiene and Safety practices in aged care
Current police check
Seasonal Influenza Vaccination
Covid Vaccination
Desirable Experience and Qualifications:

Trade Certificate in Cookery or similar qualification
Certificate II or III in Hospitality
Experience in hospitality and residential aged care Food Services of at least 1 year
An understanding of Aged Care Standards, continuous improvement, accreditation in Aged Care and AN-ACC requirements
An understanding of Food Safety and OH&S in aged care
