Cooinda was established in 1969 by a small group of community members and volunteers as a secure place where older people could live. Today Cooinda provides a home and award-winning excellence in person centred care for up to 82 older people in a state-of-the-art facility.
Cooinda also provides community care services including domestic assistance, personal care, home care packages and short-term restorative care along with 67 on-site, independent retirement living villas offering traditional and modern living.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Provide care assistance to each client in accordance with the service plan and as directed by the Cooinda Community Services Coordinator. This may include domestic assistance, personal care or respite care.
• Provide clients with social and emotional support.
• Personal hygiene and grooming – assisting client to wash, shower or bathe. Assisting client with un/dressing, hair routine and dental care. Toileting – assisting client on and off toilet/commode chair, assisting with hygiene if required. Assistance with mobility – assistance fitting artificial limbs or manual handling of clients, including transfer using hoists or other manual handling aids.
• Companionship and general monitoring of client.
• Assisting with Feeds as required.
• In Home Support duties – Cleaning of floors, bathrooms and kitchens, dusting and tidying, laundry and ironing, making beds and changing linen.
• Meal preparation – cooking or preparation of meals or heating frozen meals or meals on wheels.
• Shopping on behalf of client, making lists, unpacking and storing bought items.
• Errands such as banking, paying accounts.

 

The successful applicant should have:
• Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or Aged Care (or equivalent) or Certificate IV in Disability or Community Services.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good time management.
• Flexibility and availability to work rostered shifts.
• Current Victorian Driver licence.
• The ability to work unsupervised with attention to detail.
• A flexible and enthusiastic attitude.

Those eligible for salary packaging can increase their hourly rate in excess of $2.
– Up to $611.53 per fortnight to pay your mortgage, rent, school fees, etc.
– Up to $101.92 per fortnight to pay entertainment activities like cafes, restaurants, etc.
